Actress Hayden Panettiere Expressed Fear of Repercussions Over Memoir Details

Hayden Panettiere told close friends she was anxious about potential blowback from former acquaintances she described as "dangerous" while preparing to release her memoir. She said the book would recount a traumatic incident from when she was 18, in which a friend allegedly arranged a sexual encounter with a naked male singer on a yacht, but she felt unable to name the individuals involved for legal reasons. Sources said her inner circle urged her to identify the people for accountability, but she remained concerned about possible repercussions.

Panettiere also reportedly omitted other disturbing experiences involving well-known Hollywood figures, fearing they were too unsettling to disclose. The actress later died on Sunday after emergency responders found her unresponsive at an Airbnb in Greenville, South Carolina, where she was experiencing cardiac arrest. Her boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, and his brother were present; Hickerson showed police a bag of medication she had been taking.

"She was terrified of the fallout from naming people," a source close to the actress said.

The circumstances surrounding her death have not been publicly detailed beyond the cardiac emergency.
