Father of Hayden Panettiere was beginning to recover from son's death when actress died, neighbors say
Neighbors said Alan “Skip” Panettiere had started to recover from his son Jansen's 2023 death when his daughter Hayden Panettiere died at 36 in South Carolina.
Alan “Skip” Panettiere, a longtime resident of Piermont, New York, was said by local acquaintances to have been emerging from the grief of his son Jansen’s February 2023 death when his daughter, actress Hayden Panettiere, died on Sunday in a South Carolina Airbnb.
Panettiere, 36, was found unresponsive and suffered cardiac arrest after a suspected overdose, according to police reports. The actress had visited her father in New York a month before her death.
Vittorio Lanni, who runs a restaurant across from Skip’s apartment, recalled that Hayden frequently dined at his establishment and described the family as supportive members of the community.
In a statement released Sunday night, Skip Panettiere expressed “profound sadness” over his daughter’s passing, calling her “an incredible light and a force of nature.”
Hayden Panettiere, known for roles on “Heroes” and “Nashville,” had recently published a memoir detailing her struggles with opioid and alcohol addiction, postpartum depression, and other personal challenges.
