Scheffler claims eight-stroke victory at FedEx St. Jude Championship

Résumé

World number one Scottie Scheffler won the FedEx St. Jude Championship by eight strokes, marking his second PGA Tour win of the season and finishing 25 shots ahead of Rory McIlroy.

Scottie Scheffler secured his second PGA Tour title of the 2026 season at the FedEx St. Jude Championship in Memphis, finishing eight strokes ahead of the nearest competitor. The 30-year-old, who had been runner-up in five events earlier in the year, posted a final-round 61 and completed the tournament 25 shots ahead of Rory McIlroy, who played the first two rounds alongside Scheffler.

McIlroy, who had not competed since The Open Championship three weeks earlier, entered the event after a limited schedule of six PGA Tour starts since his Masters win in April. Scheffler’s dominant performance came as the tour seeks to maintain player participation and fan interest.

"I think any time somebody has beaten any of us out here, we’re all… inspired, but I guess you could say fired up to come out here and compete," Scheffler said, adding that McIlroy’s recent success had motivated him and that he felt his own game was improving.

The victory reinforces Scheffler’s position as the leading player on the tour and provides a notable contrast to McIlroy’s reduced playing schedule this season.
