Long-time coach Din Thomas announces retirement from fight cornering after UFC 330

Resumen

Former UFC analyst and veteran coach Din Thomas said he will no longer serve as a corner for fighters, citing the workload and stress after Gillian Robertson's loss at UFC 330.

Veteran mixed-martial-arts coach and UFC analyst Din Thomas said he will stop cornering fighters following Gillian Robertson's unanimous decision loss to Mackenzie Dern at UFC 330 in Philadelphia. Thomas, who was on the Paramount+ broadcast team, stepped into Robertson's corner for the strawweight title bout and later announced the decision on the analyst desk. > "I told myself I would continue to do this until I took Gillian as far as she could go. I think that might be as far as she can go, and I am officially retiring from cornering fighters tonight," Thomas said. He added that he will continue to coach and train fighters but will no longer accompany them through fight week or sit in the cage. > "It's a lot of work – it's a lot of stress. You've got to be there all week, and, again, I've been slowly telling you, like, I don't cut weight with them, and it's not fair to them. They need somebody who's going to really put that type of work in with them," he explained.
