Three migrants die as Ceuta border surge claims more lives
Yahoo reported that three migrants died while attempting to cross the border into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta on 15 August, adding to a death toll that has risen to at least 90 during the recent surge. Moroccan security forces had earlier detained more than 100 migrants near the Ceuta border with tear gas after social-media calls for a mass crossing, and later arrested 294 sub-Saharan migrants and 61 suspected facilitators as the flow intensified. The July 30 mass crossing had already claimed more than 140 lives, leaving thousands of migrants, many of them minors, stranded in Ceuta.
