A new trailer for the upcoming film Avengers: Doomsday was released on Friday, featuring Robert Downey Jr. prominently as the villain Doctor Doom. The footage marks the actor's first appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since Avengers: Endgame and mirrors a look previously shown at San Diego Comic-Con.
The trailer was screened at the D23 event and includes a brief cameo by Hugh Jackman, accompanied by a scripted exchange with a Deadpool voiceover that references a potential cameo by Ryan Reynolds.
The Russo brothers are directing the film, which assembles a large ensemble cast. Returning actors include Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, and Sebastian Stan, while newer MCU faces such as Simu Liu, Letitia Wright, and Vanessa Kirby also appear. The cast further expands to include Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen from the earlier X-Men films, as well as Pedro Pascal and Joseph Quinn.
Marvel has previously released character teasers and a July trailer for the project. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to open in theaters on Dec. 18.
