U.S. Army suspends Apache training flights after fatal Texas crash
The U. S. Army said on 14 August that it had temporarily halted Apache helicopter training flights after a crash on 10 August near Fort Hood killed two soldiers and ignited a wildfire. An AH-64 Apache attack helicopter from Fort Hood crashed in a field near Salado, Texas, killing both crew members and sparking the fire.
The Army later identified the deceased as Chief Warrant Officer 2 Deontre T. Huey and Warrant Officer Seth L. Olmstead and pledged support for their families.
