Ravens evaluate roster prospects after preseason win over Eagles
Baltimore defeated Philadelphia 24-7 in a preseason game, prompting coaches to reassess several players' chances to make the regular-season roster.
The Baltimore Ravens opened their 2026 preseason schedule with a 24-7 victory against the Philadelphia Eagles at M&T Bank Stadium. While the win itself holds little impact on the regular season, it offered a chance for players competing for roster spots to showcase their performance.
Tight end Matthew Hibner caught a long pass on the opening drive and added two more receptions, showing improved burst, according to staff analyst Dustin Cox. Linebacker Adisa Isaac, returning from a prolonged absence, recorded a near pick-six that highlighted his instincts, noted Kevin McNelis.
Wide receiver Ja’Kobi Lane scored a touchdown on his third catch, reinforcing his strong training-camp showing, while cornerback Keyon Martin contributed a tackle for loss and a sack, as reported by Nikhil Mehta.
Quarterbacks Tyler Huntley and undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano both saw action; Huntley performed as expected for a backup, and Fagnano managed the offense well despite an end-zone interception, according to Cox.
On the opposite side, kicker Tyler Loop missed a 49-yard attempt that added pressure after a previous postseason miss, though he later converted a 42-yard field goal, Cox wrote. Offensive lineman Emery Jones Jr. struggled in pass protection, being beaten multiple times, including a sack by Eagles defensive tackle Ty Robinson, Mehta observed.
The defense, coordinated by Jesse Minter and Anthony Weaver, limited Philadelphia to 159 total yards and only six first downs, holding the Eagles to a 0-9 third-down conversion rate, Cox noted.
Wide receiver Elijah Sarratt caught six of seven targets for 66 yards but later fumbled, a turnover that could affect his roster chances, Mehta said. Punter Ryan Eckley’s first kick traveled only 27 yards, though his second attempt produced good hang time, while the team’s primary kicker handled most duties, Mehta added.
Overall, the preseason performance provided coaches with data to decide which players will secure spots on the final 53-man roster.
