Kelce calls wedding the best night of his life and says he’s ready for Chiefs season

Resumen

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce described his July wedding to Taylor Swift as the best night of his life and said he feels physically ready for the upcoming season during his first media appearance of training camp.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce told reporters on Wednesday that his July 3 wedding to singer Taylor Swift was the best night of his life and that he is now focused on football. The 36-year-old, who is entering his 14th season, said the ceremony at Madison Square Garden was a "crazy night" full of celebration before turning his attention to the Chiefs’ mandatory minicamp in Kansas City.

Kelce recalled his longtime wish to play in a Knicks playoff game at the venue, noting he missed the opportunity when Swift attended a game in June. He joked about the arena’s air conditioning, saying it was "cooking, baby," and praised the setting for a private event.

Despite rumors of a decline in conditioning, head coach Andy Reid said Kelce appears in good shape and has not been sidelined during practice. Kelce said he feels "ready to rock and roll" this season, adding that his body feels good after nine days in pads and that he wants to set a strong example for his teammates.

He cited a desire to improve on a disappointing 2025, mentioning two drops-turned-interceptions that contributed to losses against the Philadelphia Eagles and Houston Texans. Kelce emphasized his continued love for the game and his goal to play at a higher level, while also focusing on leadership and accountability within the locker room.

"Wedding was the best night of my life. I appreciate everybody who came out and celebrated and had fun with us. That’s about all I really got from that night," Kelce said. "You need to have these days… grinding with the guys, being around them all day, every day. It feels good to have the leaders out there all feeling the same thing," he added. "I think nine days in pads, third day in pads this week, body feels good. I was able to finish in a strong way," Kelce said. "I still got a lot of love for this game… I want to go out there and prove to myself that I can play at a better level than I did last year," he said. "We get stuck with adversity hitting; who’s going to want you in that foxhole with them? That’s one of those things that I want to be one of those guys that everybody counts on to get us out of that foxhole," Kelce added.
