Eagles and Patriots Hold First Joint Training Camp Practice in Foxborough

摘要

The Philadelphia Eagles and New England Patriots completed the first of two joint training camp sessions, with the Patriots edging the Eagles. Several Eagles players remained on the injury report while quarterback Jalen Hurts threw three interceptions.

Philadelphia and New England met for the first of two joint training-camp practices at the New Balance Athletics Center in Foxborough, Massachusetts. The Patriots appeared to have the upper hand, starting strong, briefly losing ground, and finishing the session ahead of the Eagles, though the Eagles were not overwhelmed.

The Eagles injury report listed several players who did not participate, including defensive tackle Byron Young (shoulder) and wide receiver Johnny Wilson (knee). Others, such as wide receiver DeVonta Smith and running back Tank Bigsby, were cleared to practice. Quarterback Jalen Hurts threw three interceptions during the drills, including a short pass that was deflected into a Patriots defender’s hands.

Despite the turnovers, Hurts connected on a deep pass to Elijah Moore and completed multiple short throws to Hollywood Brown, Dallas Goedert, Saquon Barkley, and Will Shipley. The running game showed promise, with Barkley gaining yards on a screen pass and the offensive line providing space.

Defensive highlights included a sack by Jalyx Hunt on Patriots quarterback Drake Maye and a tackle for loss by Jalen Carter. On the Patriots side, cornerback Riq Woolen faced repeated pressure from Eagles receivers, while safety DeMario Douglas made several key plays.

Backup quarterbacks Andy Dalton and Tanner McKee each saw action; Dalton recovered from an early misthrow to finish with several completions, while McKee threw an interception late in the session.

The practice featured numerous one-on-one drills, with notable matchups such as A.J. Brown versus Patriots cornerback Quinyon Mitchell and offensive line versus defensive line contests. Kicker Jake Elliott missed two of five attempts observed from the practice sidelines.

The teams are scheduled to meet again the following morning for a second joint session.
