Patriots' Tuesday practice highlights Drake Maye's strong performance and position battles

摘要

In a 90-minute full-padded session, quarterback Drake Maye completed 15 of 17 passes and led a scoring drive, while competition intensified at running back, wide receiver and linebacker positions.

The New England Patriots held a full-padded practice on Tuesday, lasting about 90 minutes and featuring extensive full-team drills after a walkthrough the previous day. Quarterback Drake Maye completed 15 of 17 pass attempts during the 11-on-11 drills, connecting repeatedly with wide receivers A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs. Maye capped the session by leading a scoring drive that began at the Patriots' own 20-yard line with 1:15 remaining, distributing the ball to Doubs, DeMario Douglas, Kayshon Boutte and Rhamondre Stevenson before reaching field-goal range.

The running back competition continued to evolve, with recently signed Hassan Haskins and JaMycal Hasty receiving reps behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. Rookie Jam Miller worked exclusively with the third team. Wide receiver A.J. Brown and Romeo Doubs showed strong chemistry with Maye; Brown caught a roughly 70-yard touchdown pass, while Doubs led the team with four receptions in the drill.

At linebacker, fifth-round rookie Namdi Obiazor participated in starter-level drills after Chad Muma missed the session and Khalil Jacobs was used as a backup. Although he did not make a notable impact, his size and athleticism were noted.

The Patriots are scheduled for another walkthrough on Wednesday, which will be closed to the public.
