Seattle Seahawks negotiate signing of former Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold amid legal issues

Resumen

The Seahawks are working to finalize a deal for former Detroit Lions first-round pick Terrion Arnold, while the player faces pending felony charges and the league reviews the signing.

Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Macdonald said the team has reached an agreement with former Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold but still needs to resolve timing and league approval, noting uncertainty about how the deal will be completed. Arnold, a 2024 first-round pick, is currently navigating a legal process involving eight felony charges from an incident in Florida earlier this year.

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell responded to questions about other teams’ interest in Arnold after the Lions cut him following his June arrest. Campbell said he expected teams to conduct due diligence, adding that the Lions had no ill will toward Arnold and wished him well.

Arnold was selected 24th overall by Detroit and showed flashes of high potential, with defensive coordinator Kelvin Sheppard previously describing him as having "number one cornerback potential" that remained untapped. The Lions have moved on, with D.J. Reed and Rock Ya-Sin taking starting roles in training camp and Ennis Rakestraw and Nick Whiteside listed as primary backups.
