Seahawks negotiate free-agent cornerback Terrion Arnold, timeline pending
Seattle Seahawks have reached an agreement with free-agent cornerback Terrion Arnold, but the date of his arrival remains undecided as the team awaits legal and league decisions.
Seattle Seahawks announced they have reached an agreement with free-agent cornerback Terrion Arnold, though the exact timing of his integration into the roster has not been set. Coach Mike Macdonald told reporters that the "timetable is being worked out" and that the team is determining the best moment for Arnold to join.
"We’re working through that and when’s the best time for him to come in, but we have an agreement with him and we’ll see," Macdonald said via the HawkBlogger Twitter account.
Macdonald acknowledged Arnold’s ongoing legal case in Florida, where he faces eight felony charges that could carry a life sentence. He said the Seahawks saw an opportunity to add a player they valued during the draft process while respecting the legal proceedings.
"I think it was an opportunity to bring on a player that we felt strongly about during the draft process, and we also understand that it’s a serious situation with a legal matter… we respect that and will let the league decide if and when his return to play is possible," he explained.
The coach emphasized that the team’s standard procedures would apply once Arnold is in the building, focusing on performance and personal development.
"When he gets in the building, we’ll go about our business like we normally do… we want our players to come in and be the best version of themselves, and we believe that if you do that, then the team’s gonna be better for it as well," Macdonald added.
The Seahawks’ decision comes as the franchise prepares for a potential ownership change, with new owner Vinod Khosla expected to assume control within weeks. The organization has not confirmed whether Arnold will appear in a regular-season game, noting that his participation depends on the outcome of legal and league reviews.
