Tulsa National Little League Disqualified After Ineligible Player Revealed
On August 13, court documents disclosed that the Tulsa National Little League baseball team was disqualified from the Oklahoma state tournament after it fielded an ineligible player, Sports Illustrated reported. The disqualification follows Little League International’s earlier decision on August 9 to remove the team from the Southwest Region tournament for the same eligibility violation, as USA Today noted.
A Texas judge later issued a temporary restraining order that allowed the 12-U team to compete in the regional championship, the Houston Chronicle said, and a district court subsequently reinstated the team for a championship game against Texas West, according to News On 6. After the court order, Boerne Little League declined to play the scheduled replay and proceeded directly to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, WOAI reported.
