Islam Makhachev Sets UFC Record with Victory Over Ian Garry at UFC 330
Islam Makhachev broke the UFC record for longest winning streak with a unanimous decision win over Ian Garry, while Mackenzie Dern defended her strawweight title at the event in Philadelphia.
Islam Makhachev extended his winning streak to a UFC record 17 fights by defeating Ian Garry via unanimous decision at UFC 330 on Saturday in Philadelphia. Makhachev nearly finished the bout in the second round with a head kick after a clinch break, then used his grappling and wrestling to dominate the remaining rounds, earning scores of 49-46, 49-46 and 48-47 from the judges. The victory moved him past Anderson Silva for the longest streak in UFC history.
In the co-main event, Mackenzie Dern retained her 115-pound title with a unanimous decision win over Gillian Robertson, scoring 49-46 on all three cards. Dern employed her grappling skills early in the fight, limiting Robertson’s ability to gain momentum.
Other results from the card included Jalin Turner’s first-round TKO of Kauê Fernandes, Dustin Stoltzfus’s second-round rear-naked-choke submission of Mansur Abdul-Malik, and Esteban Ribovics’s second-round TKO of Edson Barboza.
The event marked the conclusion of UFC 330’s fight card, with the organization looking ahead to UFC 331 in Los Angeles.
