Detroit Lions place Teddy Bridgewater on reserve/retired list and add QB Josh Dobbs
The Lions moved Teddy Bridgewater to the reserve/retired list, signed quarterback Josh Dobbs as a backup for Jared Goff, and made several roster additions and a waiver.
The Detroit Lions placed quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on the reserve/retired list after head coach Dan Campbell said the player is stepping away from football, a move the team believes to be permanent. The club also announced the signing of quarterback Josh Dobbs to serve as a backup to starter Jared Goff.
In addition, Detroit signed linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga, who spent the past two seasons with the Chicago Bears and earlier three years with the Los Angeles Chargers, and cornerback Ryan Cooper, who appeared in one game for the Baltimore Ravens in 2024 after time in the United Football League. The Lions also waived tight end Nick Muse as part of the day's roster changes.
