Lions move Teddy Bridgewater to reserve/retired list; Panthers add Kyle Trask after rookie injury

Resumen

The Detroit Lions placed quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on the reserve/retired list, while the Carolina Panthers signed quarterback Kyle Trask after rookie Haynes King suffered a hamstring injury in the Hall of Fame Game.

The Detroit Lions announced that veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater has been placed on the reserve/retired list, ending his tenure with the team. Head coach Dan Campbell said Bridgewater, who was the backup to Jared Goff, is stepping away from the roster.

In Carolina, rookie quarterback Haynes King injured his hamstring on a game-winning touchdown run during Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game against the Arizona Cardinals, according to head coach Dave Canales. King is expected to miss at least a week, and the Panthers signed former Florida quarterback Kyle Trask to provide depth.

The Panthers also listed several roster moves: wide receiver Malik Meiga and linebacker Nick Hampton were waived with injury designations, and tight end Nick Muse was waived outright. Additionally, the team signed linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga and cornerback Ryan Cooper Jr.

The Lions, meanwhile, added quarterback Joshua Dobbs on a one-year, $1.4 million contract following Bridgewater’s retirement, as reported by NFL Network insiders.

Both teams indicated that starting quarterback Bryce Young will play in the Lions’ upcoming preseason game against the Buffalo Bills.
