Broncos Day 6 Camp Update Highlights Injury Returns and Emerging Wide Receiver

Résumé

Denver Broncos held a low-intensity, non-padded practice on day six, with several injured players cleared to return and second-year receiver Pat Bryant standing out while veterans managed their workloads.

Denver held a non-padded practice on the sixth day of training camp, the first in shells after three consecutive padded sessions. The team expects to re-equip pads for a scrimmage on Saturday, when practice intensity should increase.

Injury updates were largely positive. Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle is expected back in four to five days after a strain, while edge rusher Nik Bonitto returned on limited snaps. Veteran receiver Courtland Sutton participated in a limited capacity as part of a load-management plan, and starting center Luke Wattenberg was present but did not take part in drills. Other players on the injury list include offensive lineman Nick Gargiulo (knee) and linebacker Jordan Turner (NFI).

With Waddle and Sutton out of the full-field drills, second-year receiver Pat Bryant received increased targets and was described by coaches as a clear candidate for the third-receiver role. Cornerback Riley Moss praised Bryant’s vertical ability, consistent release patterns and strong catch point, noting his large frame and reliable hands.

First-round pick cornerback Jahdae Barron posted his best practice to date, successfully defending a screen pass and earning three consecutive repetitions, according to a tweet from the Denver Post. Moss said Barron has become more patient and is improving his technique across nickel, dime and outside assignments.

Coach Sean Payton reiterated that Sutton’s reduced practice load is a health-preservation strategy rather than an injury concern, emphasizing the team’s focus on keeping him fresh for the full season and potential playoff run.

Additional notes from camp included veteran guard Ben Powers taking a light day, rookie edge rusher Dasan McCullough missing a second straight practice, and rookie running back RJ Harvey continuing to excel in the passing game. Former head coach Mike Shanahan visited the practice, and the team worked with several defensive and offensive players on position drills.
