Perez Hilton hospitalized after livestreamed self-harm incident
Miami-Dade authorities said the celebrity blogger was taken to a hospital after a TikTok livestream showed him injured and in distress, and his family requested privacy.
Miami-Dade police responded to calls about a TikTok livestream showing Perez Hilton, 48, with visible injuries and appearing distressed. Deputies found him alone at his home and transported him to a local hospital for medical care. > "The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office Crisis Response Unit and Licensed Mental Health Professionals are also on scene providing support and resources to the individual's family," the sheriff's office said. The sheriff's office added that mental-health professionals are assisting the family. A statement on Hilton's website confirmed he is receiving medical attention and asked the public to respect his and his family's privacy. TikTok said its automated system flagged the video, but a moderation error delayed its removal, allowing the stream to remain live for about 15 minutes before the company alerted law enforcement and banned the account.
