Apple to unveil three high-end iPhone models in September event
Apple plans to launch the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a new foldable iPhone Ultra, with higher prices and no entry-level models for the fall.
Apple is set to introduce three new iPhone models at its September launch event: the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max and a foldable device dubbed the iPhone Ultra. The Pro and Pro Max are expected to succeed the iPhone 17 Pro line and will feature the A20 Pro processor, upgraded cameras with a variable-aperture main sensor, a smaller Dynamic Island, new colour options and improved battery performance. Apple’s own C2 cellular modem will also be included, and the devices will support enhanced satellite connectivity.
The iPhone Ultra is described as Apple’s first foldable phone, featuring a book-style hinge with a roughly 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.8-inch inner screen comparable to an iPad mini. It is said to use titanium framing, a dual-camera system on the rear and two front-facing cameras, and will rely on Touch ID rather than Face ID. The device is expected to run iOS 27, offering side-by-side app multitasking and adaptive landscape layouts, and will share the A20 Pro chip and C2 modem with the Pro models.
Pricing for the Pro line is projected to start around $1,200-$1,400, while the iPhone Ultra could exceed $2,000, creating a new premium tier. Apple is reportedly postponing the launch of a standard iPhone 18 and an iPhone Air 2 to early 2027, leaving the September lineup focused on high-end offerings.
