Cleveland Browns to rotate quarterbacks in final preseason games
Head coach Todd Monken said Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson will each start a preseason game, with the likely starter decided for the final matchup.
Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken announced that quarterbacks Shedeur Sanders and Deshaun Watson will each receive a start in the team's remaining preseason contests. Monken told NFL Network reporter Cameron Wolfe that the upcoming week will determine which player starts the August 15 game in Chicago and which will lead the August 22 home game against the Buffalo Bills. The quarterback who performs best is expected to start the final preseason game on August 27 against the New England Patriots.
Watson, who joined Cleveland in 2022, has appeared in only 19 games and has not played since October 2024 after suffering two Achilles tears. Sanders, a rookie who earned Pro Bowl recognition despite starting just seven games, completed 56.6% of his passes for 1,400 yards, seven touchdowns and ten interceptions.
