Rep. Chuck Edwards Withdraws from Re-Election After Ethics Censure Recommendation
Republican Congressman Chuck Edwards announced he is withdrawing from his re-election campaign after the House Ethics Committee recommended a censure for sexual harassment of two staff members. The bipartisan Ethics Committee had earlier concluded that Edwards engaged in repeated inappropriate conduct toward two female staffers, creating a hostile work environment, and issued the strongest penalty short of expulsion. Following the report, House Republican leaders privately urged him to drop his campaign, a request the congressman disputed.
