Phillies beat Nationals 5-0 as Arráez debuts after trade
The Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Washington Nationals 5-0 on August 5, with Luis Arráez driving in two runs in his debut and left-hander Jesus Luzardo pitching eight shutout innings, NBC Sports Philadelphia reported. The win came a day after Philadelphia completed a trade with the San Francisco Giants that sent two minor-league pitchers to the Giants in exchange for second baseman Luis Arráez and reliever Caleb Kilian, NBC Sports said.
The acquisition prompted Bryce Harper to move from first base to right field for the rest of the season, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia. Phillies Nation noted that Arráez, a three-time batting champion, was expected to boost the Phillies' offense.
