Vice President JD Vance says U.S. seeks oil flow while negotiating end to Iran conflict

Resumen

In an interview on Fox News, Vice President JD Vance said the United States is applying diplomatic, economic and military pressure to restore oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz and work toward a better U.S.-Iran relationship.

Vice President JD Vance told Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany that the United States is assessing whether Iran is willing to make long-term changes that could improve bilateral relations, adding that “if not, that’s fine too.”

He said the administration will continue to apply pressure and increase oil and gas flow from the Middle East to help lower energy prices for Americans, describing the effort as a “delicate dance.”

Vance also said the U.S. is trying to “maximize the amount of oil and gas that are coming out of the Strait of Hormuz” to pre-war levels, noting that the strait’s closure has contributed to higher gasoline and food costs.

"I try to remind people that we’re really in the middle of the game here," Vance said, adding that a range of diplomatic, economic and military tools are being used to achieve “the best outcome for the American people."

He expressed confidence that the conflict will eventually be resolved, stating, “I feel quite confident we will get there.”
