Ariana Grande explains upcoming hiatus during Chicago concert

摘要

The singer addressed rumors about stepping away from the public eye, confirming a planned break after her tour ends in September.

Ariana Grande paused her Chicago concert on Monday to speak directly to more than 20,000 fans about recent speculation that she will withdraw from public appearances after her Eternal Sunshine tour concludes on Sept. 1. Reading a prepared statement from her phone, Grande said the decision was made months ago and was not a reaction to media coverage.

"Sometimes when a story comes out that’s not directly from me, things can get a little blown out of proportion," she said, adding that the hiatus is a thoughtful and empowered choice.

She emphasized that setting boundaries and taking a break are normal and that the tour remains a positive experience for her. Grande also thanked fans for their support and expressed that her love for them and for creating music will remain unchanged.

A spokesperson confirmed that Grande will finish the current tour and then take a "much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances, which has led to endless, ongoing public scrutiny." The statement noted that she looks forward to ending the tour on a high note.

The announcement coincided with news that Grande will withdraw from the upcoming West End revival of "Sunday in the Park With George," where she had been slated to star opposite Jonathan Bailey. It also followed the release of her eighth studio album, "Petal," and its title-track video, which sparked extensive commentary on her appearance.
