WestJet and CUPE 8125 Reach Tentative Deal to End Strike
WestJet and the CUPE 8125 flight-attendant union announced a tentative agreement on August 3 that would end the weekend strike that began on August 1, pending ratification by union members. The walkout started on August 1 when flight attendants protested a pay dispute over ground-duty compensation, prompting WestJet to cancel more than 300 flights, according to AP News. CNBC later reported that the parties had reached a tentative wage deal that would end the three-day strike, and The New York Times noted the agreement would conclude a 24-hour strike.
