Idaho Fast-Food Shooting Leaves Three Dead, Seven Injured as Police Seek Motive
A 24-year-old gunman opened fire at an In-N-Out Burger in Twin Falls, Idaho, killing three people and wounding seven before taking his own life, prompting investigators to search for a motive.
Twin Falls police are investigating a weekend shooting at an In-N-Out Burger that resulted in three fatalities and seven injuries before the 24-year-old suspect, identified as Chad Williams, died by suicide. Police Chief Matthew Hicks said detectives are confident Williams acted alone and that his family is cooperating with the inquiry. An off-duty state trooper and a civilian fired at the shooter, diverting him from the restaurant, though their identities were not released.
Two of the wounded were treated and released, three remain in stable condition and two are listed as critical. The fast-food chain confirmed that an employee was among those killed. The restaurant, which opened on July 24, was located in a busy shopping plaza and was crowded at the time of the attack.
Eyewitness Lane Koehn described seeing a person with an AR-style rifle emerge from the drive-through while a man with a pistol fired at the shooter. He also reported seeing an employee in uniform being dragged, bleeding from a chest wound, across the parking lot.
Another witness, Nayeli Rodriguez, said she was inside the restaurant with her daughters when shots rang out from the kitchen. She recounted an older man attempting to protect them as they fled the scene.
Authorities are still working to identify the victims’ next of kin and to determine what motivated the attack.
