Sopranos cast members attend Vincent Pastore's funeral in New York

Resumen

Vincent Pastore, known for his role on "The Sopranos," was buried in New York on Thursday, with co-star Steven Van Zandt serving as a pallbearer and family members recalling his charitable work.

Vincent Pastore, who portrayed Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on the HBO series "The Sopranos," was laid to rest in New York on Thursday. The ceremony was attended by family, friends and several former cast members, including Steven Van Zandt, who acted as a pallbearer. Pastore’s casket was draped with an American flag in recognition of his prior service in the U.S. Navy.

During the service, Pastore’s daughter described her father as “a giving person” who “lived out his dreams” and tried to share his good fortune with others. Van Zandt said he had spoken with Pastore just two days before his death, adding, “He was one of a kind, and we’ll miss him very much.”

Stephen Villano, a longtime associate, emphasized that Pastore’s real personality differed from his on-screen persona, noting that he was “generous, kind, caring” and actively supported veterans, the Bronx community, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and the NYPD. Pastore’s manager, Robert Attermann, said the actor died on Aug. 1 at his home in the Bronx and highlighted Pastore’s dedication to mentoring younger actors.

Beyond "The Sopranos," Pastore appeared in series such as "Blue Bloods," "Law & Order," and "Hawaii Five-0," and in films including "Goodfellas" and "A Bronx Tale."
