Ariana Grande releases horror-themed video for new album title track
The singer’s latest short film, directed by Christian Breslauer, depicts an aspiring actress facing a hostile audition, and includes a parental advisory notice.
Ariana Grande’s new short film for the title track of her album "Petal" opens with a parental advisory warning and follows a character named Pepper, an aspiring actress who endures a difficult audition. The seven-minute, black-and-white visual, directed by Christian Breslauer, shows Pepper being criticized by a producer for lacking authenticity, leading to a violent climax.
Grande co-wrote and executive-produced the album with Ilya, a collaborator from her 2014 single "Problem." In a press release she described the record as "something that is full of life and growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging."
The video is released while Grande continues her current tour, which supports her recent releases including the pandemic-era album "Positions" and the "Wicked"-era record "Eternal Sunshine." After the tour, she plans a multi-night residency in London and intends to pursue legal action against individuals who have leaked her music and private images.
