Foot search continues for ten climbers killed on Broad Peak
Pakistani authorities said they are conducting a foot search for the bodies of ten climbers killed by an avalanche on Broad Peak in the Karakoram after poor weather halted helicopter operations on August 4. Earlier, rescuers had recovered the remains of Nirmal Purja and three other climbers on August 2, while two bodies were still missing. The avalanche, which struck on July 29, left a multinational ten-person team dead, including the famed mountaineer Nirmal Purja; initial reports listed the climbers as missing, and later statements from some officials confirmed all ten were dead, though other sources said two bodies remained unrecovered.
