Ohio Rep. Max Miller releases recorded conversation with ex-wife amid abuse allegations

Resumen

Rep. Max Miller posted audio recordings of a confrontation with his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, that appear to support some of her claims of drug use and abuse, while he denies the allegations and faces pressure over his reelection bid.

Ohio Republican Rep. Max Miller made public a set of audio recordings from a heated August 20 conversation with his ex-wife, Emily Moreno, in an effort to counter her accusations of abuse. The files, released via a Dropbox link, include Moreno alleging that Miller used drugs, showing fear of him, and claiming she photographed needles near his bed.

President Donald Trump described Miller as “a good person” and said he would let “the families figure that out,” while noting the situation was “very sad.”

In the released audio, Moreno asks Miller if he has ever recorded their talks. Miller replies that he has not, and Moreno says she searched his backpack because she believed he had a drug problem. She later says she found needles by his bed and took photos, describing the discovery as “really scary.” Miller responded that he would submit to any drug test.

Miller later acknowledged receiving testosterone replacement therapy, a point he had previously denied in court. Additional recordings from June show Moreno claiming Miller poured hot water on her, to which he said he did not intend to cause harm.

Miller denied all of Moreno’s allegations in a livestream on X, while Moreno’s spokesperson, Stefan Mychajliw, called the audio “a documented trove of evidence” of violent behavior. The controversy comes as Miller faces a deadline to decide whether to continue his reelection campaign, with polls indicating a close race against Democrat Brian Poindexter.

The case also involves other accusations, including claims of physical aggression toward their two-year-old daughter and past allegations of misconduct from former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham and earlier incidents in Miller’s personal history.
