MLB power rankings shift after trade deadline activity

Resumen

Baseball teams were re-ranked following a busy trade-deadline period, with the Dodgers and Brewers retaining the top spots while several clubs moved up or down based on recent acquisitions.

The latest MLB power rankings reflect the impact of the recent trade-deadline deals. The Los Angeles Dodgers remain first, bolstered by the addition of starting pitchers Tarik Skubal and Kris Bubic. The Milwaukee Brewers hold second place after acquiring starter Dustin May, relievers JoJo Romero and Antonio Senzatela, and catcher Bo Naylor.

Atlanta, Tampa Bay and Chicago also stayed in the top five, each adding key pitchers and position players. The Chicago Cubs moved up to fifth after trading for Kevin Gausman, Clay Holmes and several outfield and bullpen pieces. The New York Yankees slipped to sixth despite adding first baseman Luis Garcia Jr. and outfielder Heliot Ramos while parting with relievers Camilo Doval and Jake Bird.

Boston, Philadelphia and Chicago White Sox each rose a spot, highlighted by Boston’s acquisition of catcher Adley Rutschman and Philadelphia’s addition of second baseman Luis Arraez. The White Sox climbed after landing starter Luis Castillo.

Teams such as the San Diego Padres, Houston Astros and Cleveland Guardians improved their rankings after adding pitchers like Casey Mize, Robbie Ray and Foster Griffin. Conversely, clubs that traded away key assets, including the Detroit Tigers, Baltimore Orioles and Washington Nationals, fell in the list.

The rankings consider each club’s record, recent transactions and overall season outlook as the 162-game campaign continues.
