Russian glide bomb attack kills one in Zaporizhzhia as Ukrainian drones cause casualties in Russia
Russian aircraft dropped eight glide bombs on Zaporizhzhia, killing a 71-year-old woman and injuring dozens, while Ukrainian drone strikes killed nine people in Russia's Krasnodar region and caused further casualties elsewhere.
Russian planes unleashed eight glide bombs on residential districts of Zaporizhzhia over a 90-minute period, killing a 71-year-old woman and wounding 31 people, including a teenager, regional chief Ivan Fedorov said. The attacks damaged 22 apartment blocks across four city districts.
In Russia’s Krasnodar region, debris from Ukrainian drones killed six people and injured 40 in the Black Sea town of Arkhipo-Osipovka, according to regional governor Veniamin Kondratyev. Separate reports from the Russian-installed head of Crimea, Sergei Aksyonov, said three people were killed and two wounded in an overnight strike on the peninsula.
Zelenskyy urged allies to supply more U.S.-made Patriot air-defence systems, saying only Patriots can reliably intercept ballistic missiles. He also suggested using Starlink satellites to target missile launch sites, though officials have not confirmed any plan.
Ukraine’s air force reported that Russian forces launched 181 long-range strike drones, with defenses intercepting most but 14 causing damage at 13 locations. Russian officials said their forces hit four bulk carriers carrying Ukrainian supplies, while Ukrainian drones struck a Wildberries warehouse in the Vladimir region, injuring three, and hit the Saratov oil refinery and other targets inside Russia.
