Zelenskyy cites critical shortage of air-defence missiles as Russian attacks kill eight in Ukraine

Resumen

Ukraine's president warned of a shortage of anti-missile systems after Russian strikes killed at least eight people, while an unidentified object entered Polish airspace during the same wave of attacks.

Ukraine's president said the country is facing a critical shortage of air-defence missiles from its partners, warning that delayed deliveries are increasing vulnerability to Russian attacks and civilian casualties. At least eight people were killed and more than a dozen injured after a night of missile and drone strikes across the country. A ballistic missile hit a house near Kryvyi Rih, killing four adults and two girls aged five and 12, with eight others wounded, the local defence council said. In the eastern Poltava region a drone strike on a warehouse killed one person, and in the western city of Lviv at least 15 people were wounded.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko reported that the capital was hit by ballistic weapons, confirming one death and two injuries, and urged residents to remain in shelters as fires broke out in several districts. Emergency service photos showed firefighters clearing rubble from damaged buildings.

Polish authorities said an unidentified object entered Polish airspace around 03:40 CET and a crater was later found near Tarnawa-Kolonia. Acting Ukrainian foreign minister Andrii Sybiha accused Moscow of violating NATO airspace, stating that a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile crossed into Poland as part of the strike. No comment has been received from Russian officials.
