Ben Affleck and Jeopardy! Champion Jamie Ding Win $1 Million on ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire’
Actor Ben Affleck and quiz champion Jamie Ding correctly answered the final question on the game show, securing a $1 million prize that will be donated to Affleck’s Eastern Congo Initiative.
Actor Ben Affleck teamed with former "Jeopardy!" champion Jamie Ding on Wednesday night’s episode of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," correctly answering the 15th question and winning the $1 million top prize. The winnings will be directed to Affleck’s charitable organization, the Eastern Congo Initiative.
The pair entered the segment with two questions remaining. For the $500,000 question, they used the 50:50 lifeline and chose the first airplane flight as the correct answer, eliminating the other options of splitting the atom, cloning a mammal and the polio vaccine.
Advancing to the million-dollar question, they were asked which name has never been used for a turkey pardoned by a U.S. president. After a brief deliberation and an unsuccessful Phone-A-Friend attempt, they selected "Spaghetti and Meatball," which proved correct.
The win was celebrated on set as confetti fell, and the show will continue to air on ABC at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesdays.
"I only remember this because it was a time in my life where I spent time looking up examples that the press got things wrong," Affleck said. "You must be kidding me," Affleck added when presented with the final question.
