Washington Commanders hold Day 6 of training camp in Ashburn

Résumé

The Commanders continued practice at their Ashburn facility, with limited fan attendance and roster updates including injuries and a recent retirement.

Washington held its sixth day of training camp on the practice fields in Ashburn, Virginia, after pads were delivered on Wednesday morning. The team wore pads for the first time on Monday, and several veterans received rest days on Tuesday, the same day defensive back Ahkello Witherspoon announced his retirement.

Only five sessions are open to the general public, and those tickets sold out quickly, while additional days are reserved for season ticket holders. The roster and coaching staff have seen significant turnover since the franchise finished 5-12 last season. Head coach Dan Quinn has appointed new coordinators, with David Blough taking over the offense and Daronte Jones installing a new defensive scheme.

The site Hogs Haven indicated it will provide daily coverage of practices, player participation and notable plays throughout the month leading up to the season.

"Tress Way is on the non-football injury list because of a pec injury, and cornerback Trey Amos is on the physically unable to perform list with a fibula injury. Both will be reassessed tomorrow for possible clearance to return to practice," the report said.
