Van Jefferson shines as Commanders' offense improves on Day 6 of training camp
Wide receiver Van Jefferson Jr. displayed strong route running and speed during the Washington Commanders' sixth day of 2026 training camp, while the offense expanded its playbook.
Washington Commanders head coach Dan Quinn said the camp’s intensity remains high as the team moves deeper into its 2026 preparations. After a defensive-focused start, Tuesday’s practice featured a broader offensive scheme that allowed players to work on red-zone and third-down scenarios across the full field.
Veteran free-agent wide receiver Van Jefferson Jr. was highlighted for his speed and ability to create separation during the session. Jefferson, who has more experience than any receiver behind starter Terry McLaurin, demonstrated consistent route running and open-field play, prompting speculation about his roster status.
General manager Adam Peters has indicated that the team is evaluating all options at receiver, including potential interest in veteran Stefon Diggs, while giving current players the opportunity to earn roles.
"The offense is finding its groove and the players are settling into their roles," Quinn said after the practice.
The performance suggests the Commanders are progressing toward a more balanced attack as the preseason approaches.
