Giants suspend Bader's salary after scooter crash investigation
The San Francisco Giants suspended outfielder Harrison Bader’s salary on August 1 after a late-night scooter crash left him unable to play for the remainder of the season. The club said the pay hold will stay in place while it completes its internal investigation of the incident.
Bader, who had been on the disabled list with plantar fasciitis, was hospitalized after his scooter struck a fire truck early on July 27 in San Francisco, aggravating the foot problem and ending his season. Earlier in the month the Giants also placed infielder Casey Schmitt on the 10-day injured list with a left meniscus tear and promoted prospect Osleivis Basabe as his replacement.
