Giants center fielder Harrison Bader’s foot injury worsened after scooter crash
San Francisco’s Harrison Bader, already sidelined with plantar fasciitis, suffered additional foot damage in a weekend scooter accident, potentially extending his recovery timeline.
San Francisco Giants center fielder Harrison Bader’s rehabilitation has been set back after a scooter crash early Saturday night into Sunday morning further injured his left foot, which was already affected by plantar fasciitis. The player has been out of the lineup since May 29 and was scheduled for a visit with a foot and ankle specialist in Indianapolis on Monday, but the accident complicated that appointment and altered the planned evaluation.
Bader, 32, was due for an MRI in San Francisco on Tuesday. Giants manager Tony Vitello said he had contacted the player and confirmed he was not improving, adding that the incident could delay the recovery process that was already expected to be lengthy.
The team has not released details about the crash. Bader’s 2024 season has been limited to 30 games, during which he has posted a .170 batting average with five home runs and 14 RBIs, and he also missed time earlier with a left hamstring strain.
In 2014, Bader was suspended for 19 games after a separate scooter crash while playing for the Florida Gators, an incident that reportedly involved alcohol.
