Netanyahu to meet Trump at White House amid Iran and Lebanon talks

Resumen

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will meet President Donald Trump at the White House to discuss Iran, Lebanon and the Abraham Accords, while also attending Senator Lindsey Graham’s memorial service.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is scheduled to meet President Donald Trump at the White House on Tuesday. A White House official said the agenda will include the conflict with Iran, a framework for peace in Lebanon and efforts to expand the Abraham Accords. Trump is also set to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss the war in Ukraine.

Netanyahu, whose domestic support for the Iran strategy has declined, said the talks would allow him to hear the president’s perspective. "We always find a way to work them out, and we do so as great friends," he told his cabinet, adding that any Iranian attack on Israel would provoke a strong response.

U.S. officials noted ongoing scrutiny of the war effort, with recent U.S. casualties bringing the total American deaths to 18. The Defense Department is seeking an additional $67 billion from Congress for weapons production and delivery. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz told "Meet the Press" that the United States has the resources needed for the campaign and that all options remain on the table.

Netanyahu will also attend the memorial service for the late Senator Lindsey Graham, whom he described as "one of Israel’s greatest friends since its inception." The visit follows recent statements by New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani questioning the legality of arresting Netanyahu in the United States; President Trump responded on social media that the prime minister will not be arrested while in the country.

Netanyahu indicated he plans to travel to New York for the United Nations General Assembly later this year.
