Peacock content to be added to YouTube Premium starting early 2027
YouTube Premium subscribers in the United States will gain access to the full Peacock library, including sports, movies and original series, as part of a new distribution agreement between NBCUniversal and YouTube.
YouTube Premium will incorporate the entire Peacock catalog for U.S. subscribers beginning early next year, giving users access to NBC Sports programming such as NFL and NBA games, Universal film titles, and original series from Peacock and Bravo. The integration means subscribers can watch Peacock content without leaving the YouTube platform.
The deal follows discussions initiated by Comcast co-CEO Brian Roberts with YouTube CEO Neal Mohan about nine months ago, after which executive teams met at Google’s offices and explored partnership options. The agreement also extends NBCUniversal’s existing multiyear distribution contract with YouTube TV and adds YouTube, YouTube TV and Premium to Comcast’s Xfinity cable and Xumo services.
YouTube reports more than 125 million global Premium members, while NBCUniversal said Peacock had 48 million paying subscribers as of June 30 and posted its first profit in the most recent quarter. During Comcast’s earnings call, co-CEO Mike Cavanagh, who will become CEO of NBCUniversal after the planned spin-off, said the company expects Peacock to remain profitable on an annual basis.
The partnership will also deepen advertising collaboration, allowing NBCUniversal to sell ads for Peacock programming on YouTube’s platform, a revenue stream that has become increasingly important for streaming services.
