Partial Human Remains Recovered Near Site of Fox River Boat Crash
Authorities found a partial human head near the Fox River boat crash scene and are working to confirm whether it belongs to the woman killed in the collision.
A partial human head was discovered near the location of a fatal boat collision on the Fox River that killed 49-year-old Magdalena Jablonska of Des Plaines. The McHenry County Coroner's Office was alerted by the sheriff's office at about 9:20 p.m. on Wednesday and said it will use dental records to attempt a positive identification.
"At this time, we have not yet been able to positively identify the remains that were found," the coroner's office said, adding that the team is working "with the utmost care to establish a positive identification as quickly as possible."
Jablonska had been identified earlier this week as the victim of the Saturday crash, in which a 31-foot pontoon boat struck a 20-foot Crownline, causing her decapitation and death from blunt-force injuries. Officials have not confirmed whether the newly found remains belong to her. The investigation continues in cooperation with the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, the McHenry County Sheriff's Office and the McHenry Township Fire Protection District.
