Seattle police say Bite of Seattle shooting was gang-related and recover ghost gun

Resumen

Police identified the July 27 mass shooting at Seattle Center as a targeted, gang-related incident, recovered a ghost gun and a modified Glock, and said a 15-year-old and a 19-year-old suspect were involved.

Seattle police said the July 27 mass shooting at the Bite of Seattle food-vendor area was a targeted, gang-related incident. Investigators recovered three firearms, including a polymer-frame 9mm ghost gun and a Glock 45 pistol equipped with a fully automatic switch, which they believe were used in the attack. Ballistic testing is ongoing.

The department identified a 15-year-old suspect, arrested shortly after the shooting, and a 19-year-old suspect, Junior Cee Niko Semo, who was found dead at the scene. Detectives continue to search for a third suspect and have received more than 80 tips.

"This is not something that we can keep letting happen in our community," Mayor Katie Wilson said at a vigil.

"That update should've been within an hour... there's a lack of concern for the community in general," former King County Sheriff Dave Reichert said, criticizing the delayed public communication.

Police said there is no ongoing danger to the public and will increase staffing at Seattle Center events for the rest of the month. The city is reaching out to vendors for support and maintaining contact with victims' families.
