Trump signs order to place warning signs at Smithsonian history museum
President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing the Interior Department to install temporary warning signs outside the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History, stating that certain exhibits are inaccurate and directing visitors to alternative sources for U. S. history, according to the order.
The order, which cites a White House report, was first reported when the president directed the Interior Department to place the signs, prompting museum officials to defend the institution’s scholarly standards. Earlier coverage described the directive as a response to alleged ideological bias in the museum’s displays.
