Tony Romo cited for open container and DUI offenses after Milwaukee traffic stop

Summary

Former NFL quarterback Tony Romo was cited for possession of an open container, operating while intoxicated, unsafe passing and refusal to take a breath test following a traffic stop in Milwaukee.

Former NFL quarterback Tony Romo was stopped by police in Milwaukee last week and cited for several offenses. Authorities said Romo had an open container of alcohol in the vehicle he was driving and issued a citation for possession of open intoxicants. He was also cited for operating while intoxicated, unsafe passing on the right and refusing to submit to a breath test.

Body-camera footage of the stop and the subsequent field-sobriety test was released by a media outlet on Tuesday. Romo is scheduled to appear in court on September 21 to address the traffic citations.

If the court upholds the refusal to take a breath test, Romo could face a driver’s license suspension of up to one year.
