Former Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo arrested on suspicion of OWI after Wisconsin golf tournament

Summary

Tony Romo was detained on an operating while intoxicated charge in Milwaukee on Thursday, hours after competing in the Wisconsin Amateur Championship.

Former Dallas Cowboys quarterback and CBS analyst Tony Romo was arrested on suspicion of operating while intoxicated (OWI) on Thursday evening in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. According to a detention report obtained by Fox 6 News, the incident occurred around 6:15 p.m. CT on Interstate 43, roughly 40 miles from West Bend where Romo had been playing in the Wisconsin Amateur Championship. Romo finished in a four-way tie for 73rd place in the tournament, which concluded earlier that day.

Romo was booked at the Milwaukee County jail at about 9:45 p.m. CT and released later that night at approximately 11:00 p.m. CT. The report notes that he performed poorly on field-sobriety tests, though it does not indicate whether a breath test was administered to determine his blood-alcohol level.

He is scheduled to appear in court on September 21, six days before he is set to call the Ravens-Cowboys game in Brazil for CBS. The CBS News website has posted a brief item about the arrest, while CBS Sports has not.

"The arrest detention report says that he performed poorly in field sobriety testing," the report states.
