Apple reportedly plans foldable iPhone Ultra with dual displays and new hardware

Resumen

Apple is expected to launch a foldable iPhone, dubbed iPhone Ultra, featuring a book-style hinge, two screens, an A20 Pro processor and Touch ID, with a projected starting price near $2,000.

Apple is preparing its first foldable iPhone, which industry sources say will be called iPhone Ultra and is slated for a fall release. The device is expected to use a book-style hinge that folds the phone width-wise, resulting in an outer display roughly 5.3-5.5 inches wide and an inner screen about 7.6-7.8 inches, comparable in size to an iPad mini. The outer screen will have a wider aspect ratio than current iPhone mini models, while the inner display is reported to be crease-free, a departure from earlier foldable designs.

The hardware lineup is said to include a titanium frame, an A20 Pro chip built on a 2-nanometer process, and a new C2 cellular modem that could replace Qualcomm components. The processor is expected to pair with 12 GB of RAM and faster LPDDR5 memory. Camera specifications list two rear lenses—both 48 MP, one wide-angle and one ultra-wide—and two front-facing cameras, likely using the 18 MP Center Stage sensor introduced with the iPhone 17.

Software features for iOS 27 may include side-by-side app multitasking and iPad-style landscape layouts, according to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman. Authentication is reported to rely on Touch ID integrated into the power button, as the device’s thin profile may not accommodate Face ID hardware for both screens.

Analysts estimate a starting price of about $1,999 for a 256 GB configuration, making it the costliest iPhone model to date. The combination of phone and tablet form factors is intended to justify the premium price.
