Grid adjustments see Lando Norris on pole for 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix

Résumé

Lando Norris will start from pole at the Budapest race after a series of penalties reshuffle the front of the grid, moving Lewis Hamilton to fifth place.

Lando Norris secured pole position for the 2026 Hungarian Grand Prix, his first pole since the 2025 Las Vegas event. He edged out reigning champion Lewis Hamilton by 0.012 seconds, with Charles Leclerc and Kimi Antonelli completing the top four.

Hamilton received a three-place grid penalty for impeding Oscar Piastri in Q3, which moved Leclerc, Antonelli and Piastri each one spot forward. Antonelli was later penalised for failing to reduce speed under yellow-flag conditions, dropping him to seventh on the grid. The penalties promoted Piastri to third, Verstappen to fourth, Hamilton to fifth and Russell to sixth after a water-leak issue limited his final qualifying run.

The revised starting order places Norris on pole, followed by Piastri, Verstappen, Hamilton, Russell, Leclerc and Antonelli.
