Dodgers meet President Trump at White House after 2025 World Series win

Résumé

Most of the Los Angeles Dodgers roster visited the White House on Thursday for a ceremony with President Trump honoring their 2025 World Series championship, amid mixed reactions from fans.

Los Angeles Dodgers players, coaches and staff gathered at the White House on Thursday for a ceremony with President Donald Trump honoring the team’s 2025 World Series title. The event was held in the Rose Garden, which has recently been renovated with new stone paving.

President Trump addressed the crowd for about 20 minutes, recalling the postseason and congratulating the team. He highlighted specific moments such as Shohei Ohtani’s three-home-run game in the NLCS and Will Smith’s play in Game 7 of the World Series. Trump also presented a personalized World Series ring and a Dodgers jersey to team chairman Mark Walter.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said the team hopes fans can take pride in the players’ performance and teamwork, adding that the organization aims to bring more supporters to the club. Retired pitcher Clayton Kershaw attended the ceremony, while active players Mookie Betts, Edgardo Henriquez and a few others were absent.

The visit came despite some fans expressing concern over Trump’s immigration policies. Roberts downplayed any political messaging, emphasizing the focus on the team’s achievements.

Walter’s business interests have recently been the subject of a federal investigation into two insurance companies he controls, though no charges have been filed. Representatives for the companies said they are cooperating with authorities.

After the ceremony, Trump invited the Dodgers to the Oval Office and presented them with commemorative challenge coins before concluding the event.
