Ukrainian drones strike Wildberries warehouse and energy site in Volgograd, one fatality reported

Résumé

Ukrainian drone attacks hit a Wildberries logistics hub and an energy facility in Russia's Volgograd region, killing a woman and injuring others, while Russian defenses reported intercepting hundreds of drones.

Ukrainian drones hit a logistics centre operated by online retailer Wildberries and an energy facility in the Volgograd region on Friday, resulting in the death of a woman whose body was recovered from a damaged residential building. Regional Governor Andrei Bocharov initially said five people were injured but later confirmed the fatality. Wildberries said a fire broke out at its warehouse after the strike but reported no casualties at the site.

Satellite fire-monitoring data showed large active fires near a Lukoil-run oil refinery south of Volgograd, though the company has not commented on any damage. In the neighbouring Rostov region, Governor Yury Slyusar said a woman was injured in a separate drone strike in the town of Gukovo.

Online retailer Ozon announced it evacuated a warehouse in Tatarstan after an air-raid alert, with video footage showing employees leaving as a drone fell nearby. Russia’s Defence Ministry said it intercepted 371 Ukrainian drones across the Russian mainland and annexed Crimea between Thursday night and Friday morning.

The attacks come amid a broader pattern of drone strikes that have damaged more than a dozen Wildberries warehouses in the past two weeks, affecting the company’s storage capacity and small businesses that rely on the platform. Ukraine has accused Wildberries of supplying parts for Russian military drones, a claim the retailer denies.

In Ukraine, authorities reported that Russian attacks killed at least nine people and injured 48 others across the country on the same day, and that a U.S. company's drone factory in Kyiv was also hit.
